Mourning Dove Festival 2010

The second ever Mourning Dove Festival will be held in Head Of St. Margaret’s Bay NS on Saturday, July 31, with performances by Erin Costelo, Hopeful Monster, Jose Contreras (of By Divine Right), Andrew Watt And The Glory Glory and Michelle McAdorey (formerly of Crash Vegas).

The venue is a wooded property on Mason’s Point within twenty kilometres from the Halifax Rotary, providing a relaxed setting to enjoy some great music. This would be a perfect family destination after a heat-of-the-day outing to Queensland Beach! The first act will begin at 3 p.m.

Bring a sweater, a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and bug juice. Tickets are $20 and include food. Attendance will be limited to 100 guests, so please reserve a spot in advance by contacting us at 902-826-7067 or mourningdovefestival@gmail.com.

* Please note: in the event of rain, the festival will be held Sunday, August 1

We had a blast putting on MDF 2007, despite a torrential downpour (hence this year's rain date proviso) — we're really excited to be doing it again this summer! Not only is it a chance for us to host a fantastic line up of singer songwriters, but it's becoming the focal point of a Ball family reunion that will see my brother, sister, nephew, daughter, uncle and parents all under the same roof for the first time in ages. The house once belonged to my Grandfather, a percussionist who emigrated from England in the 1950s for a job in the Royal Canadian Artillery band; it was sold in the 70s and reacquired by my folks a few years ago for their retirement home... so the stage is set for a very special occasion — we hope you will come share it with us!

Besides the festival, I'll be playing another Hopeful Monster show while I'm back in NS:
